PRE-SURGICAL INSTRUCTIONS

Our first priority is to make your day of surgery as pleasant as possible. The following suggestions for you, can further help us to do so

1. Take all medications you would normally take as directed for other medical reasons. DISCONTINUE any blood thinners (Aspirin/Plavix/Eliquis), as written authorization from your M.D. should have been obtained in order to suspend them 3-5 days prior to surgery. **We will advise you when we receive a release.

2. Plan to pick up your prescriptions the day before surgery. We will call them out the day before once we’ve obtained your verbal appointment confirmation. Check the directions, as the anti-inflammatory and/or antibiotic require you to start, with food, on the morning of surgery before arriving. **(If afternoon appt, there will also be additional doses to take with lunch.)

3. If you have opted for “In-office-Conscious Sedation” plan to arrive 30 minutes ahead of time. You MUST have a driver to and from the appointment. If your driver is not staying during your surgery, they must leave a phone number for advance notification to pick you up. It is imperative that you plan for an adult to care for you as the sedative will still have an effect after the surgery (usually 2-6 hours).

4. Be sure to wear comfortable, open-collar, loose-fitting clothing. PLEASE REMOVE EARRINGS AND NECKLACES PRIOR TO ARRIVING.

5. Prepare several cold packs by putting damp washcloths in small zip-lock bags ahead of time. These should be put in the freezer for use in the first few hours following surgery.

6. Have available soft foods, such as soups, potatoes, eggs, oatmeal, soft cooked vegetables, baked or broiled fish or chicken, pasta, etc. Also, good to have, is nutritional drinks like Ensure or Boost. These can be blended with vanilla ice cream to make a nutritional shake. Avoid hot and/or carbonated drinks for the first 5 to 7 days after surgery.

7. Please review the Treatment Plan copy we had you sign and be prepared for your financial portion to be collected prior to starting your surgery. The $100 appointment agreement must be on file in order to confirm your appointment. If you are using a Health Savings Card, Care Credit or debit card, please contact them in advance to authorize your charges, as some plans do have a daily spending limit that your treatment cost could exceed.

Should you have any questions, please contact the office @ 409-898-2068.
